Most of you want text messages to forward from your iPhone to your Mac and/or iPad — this way, when you get a text on the phone, it shows up on the other devices. Good, yes?
But not everyone has this set up, and especially after you get a new device, it might be a while before you realize, “Hey, wait a sec right there, Pal… I’m not getting my texts everywhere!”
So it turns out that when you get a new Apple device, you must manually enable devices to receive forwarded texts from your iPhone—this setting is off by default. (Don’t ask me why they did this – but I get asked to fix it all the time…. ) And now you can fix it, too!
On your iPhone, go to Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding, and flip the switches for the devices you want to receive texts on.
All done!
Now, skedaddle, and get on about having a fantastic day!
